In the last issue we talked about a few of the basic methods of that
you can use to get more traffic. In this issue we are going to talk
about how to generate free social traffic.
Nowadays, getting your website included in the top search engine
results is not the only way to drive more traffic to your website.
Search engine optimization still helps, yes, but it’s not the only
alternative to focus on. Now, with the escalating growth and
popularity of social websites, it’s important that your website gets
a piece of the social cake, too!
Understanding what makes up a social traffic is vital to your
success with this traffic generation method.
A lot of people are still confused with what exactly makes up social
traffic. While there are many varied definitions you can obtain
online, most, if not all, will agree that social traffic generally
includes those coming from social media, such as blogs, forums,
social news and bookmarking websites like Del.Icio.Us, Digg,
Reddit, as well as social networking websites like MySpace
and Facebook, and lastly any other product of Web 2.0 such as
Amazon Review or Yahoo Local.
Any traffic you obtain from such sites can be immediately
classified as social traffic. Social traffic is generated more or less
by the preferences of other people since it is the users of websites
like Digg and MySpace that made the choice to link to your
website.
Now that you know where to get social traffic from, let's talk about
some of the different things that will help you to use it to your
advantage.

So just what is search engine optimization and do you have to use
it? The answer to why you have to use it is an easy one. You need
search engine optimization to be number one, or maybe at least
make your site income generating.
With search engine optimization you can get the benefit of
generating a high traffic volume. Let’s just say you get only a turn
out of successful sales with 10 to 20 percent of your traffic. If you
get a hundred hits or more a day, you get a good turn out of sales
already. If you get only twenty to ten hits a day, you only get one or
two if not any at all.
So once again, what is search engine optimization? Search
engine optimization is utilizing tools and methods in making your
site top ranking in the results of search engines. Getting yourself in
the first page and better yet in the top half of the page will ensure
that your site will generate public awareness of your site’s
existence and subsequently generate more traffic, traffic that could
lead to potential income and business.
Search engine optimization requires a lot of work to be fully
realized. There are many aspects you have to change in your site
or add as well to get search engine optimization. These will
include getting lots of information about the keyword phrases that
are popular in regards to your sites niche or theme.

Now, let's move on to paid inclusion. A paid web directory offers
a premium service with faster approval times. To be successful,
these sites must deliver good Page Rank or high quality traffic.
Since these sites are usually less crowded your link should make
it onto a higher PR page fairly quickly.
They work very much like the yellow pages from telephone
companies. But instead of listing telephone numbers, they put the
direct link to your website.
There are several advantages to paid inclusion, including rapid
indexing which means that your pages will be added to search
results in a very short time after you have paid the fee. The time
difference between when the regular spider will index your pages
and when the paid spider will is a matter of months. The spider for
paid inclusion usually indexes your pages in a day or two. Paid
inclusion spiders will go back to your pages often, sometimes
even daily.
Here is a quick list of the top paid directories:

profitable.
